Can you tell us about your Architectural path?
I started Studiojos to create multi-disciplinary design practice with an expertise and focus on creating bespoke luxury one of a kind projects internationally. With many years spent within the design industry I have formed a collaborative approach and focus on cohesive timeless design. I have ensured the studio is grounded by a rigour of simplicity and modest character. The growth that Studiojos has developed over the years has seen the design studio merge a strong sense of scale, form and material with an eclectic and unique story, brought to life from myself and the curated team.
When it comes to choosing stone, which is your favourite?
The immense knowledge base of my team and I, invites individual interests for each project which creates adaptability and flexibility matched with new-age thinking and ideas. This allows us to have a vase range of preferred stones we like to specify for each project. There is not one stone that we select more than others, as each project has a different story we like to tell through materiality.
Design is an extension of who we are, it’s very personal. What advice do you give your clients when choosing a piece?
Design is a very deep and personal collection of ideas and thoughts. It can be very difficult at times for people to visualise a space with items they may love individually but cannot grasp what they would all look like collectively. Advice we usually give clients is to go with your gut and try and have samples/ imagery of the products within your everyday environment to further understand if you could live with the selection long term or if it’s just a something you loved in the moment.
Is there a career highlight that has pushed your work to another level?
A career highlight I would have, would be working with some of the world’s most exclusive artisans and developers to create luxury turn-key residences for the some of the most exclusive addresses globally. This has pushed my design studio into a world of new creativity and unique design ideas.
What makes a house a home to you?
At times, it can be challenging to not just have a house, but to have a home. However, Studiojos offers a dedicated focus on a few exclusive projects each year which allows our understated boutique studio to create finely detailed spaces built to outlast changing fashions and be calming sanctuaries for our discerning clients. These are all elements that can impact the way our clients live but ultimately allow them to feel like we have created a luxury residence they call home.
Your favourite designer?
My favourite designer would have to be Simon Porte Jacquemus. Simon started his fashion label at the same age I created my design studio which has inspired me personally and professionally. Within seven years he has successfully created one the of the world’s biggest fashion labels which doubles its revenue each year. The brand has seen celebrities like Rihanna, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian (just to name a few) wear their pieces to major global events. Just like Jacquemus has inspired me. I would love to have a similar impact on young professionals to kick start their careers within the design industry.
