CHLOE MATTERS

Chloe Matters has experience working nationally & internationally, with accolades that include multiple design awards for her work Can you tell us about your Design path? Have been in the design industry for around 11 years now and have been lucky to work internationally and nationally across a vast range of projects from hospitality, commercial to residential and even boats. Right now my business has been refined to a fairly distinct aesthetic, where I enjoy working with like minded people who share this aesthetic. When it comes to choosing stone, which is your favourite? I love anything that has organic qualities and I’m really into stones with a softness, like ocean blue travertine and limestones but it’s also hard to go past Arabescato. Design is an extension of who we are, it’s very personal. What advice do you give your clients when choosing a piece? Really delve deep into what is visually pleasing to you, we can piece together a design from a basic brief but if you truly understand what makes you tick it really gives power to a project. Is there a career highlight that has pushed your work to another level? There are honestly so many! I think winning “best bar design” at world interior awards and “best retail space” at not only the world interiors awards but also Australian Interior design awards (ironically the retail space was 90% Viola back before viola became a trend) was a huge moment for me. It really validated my inner aesthetic. What makes a house a home to you? A space that creates an emotional response. Your favorite designer? Vincent Van Duysen
